December 2007 - Kindergarten and 1st Grade

Our unit in Religion during the month of December is
entitled "Waiting." The unit started out by talking
about four young men in the Old Testament. Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego
had been captured, along with other people, by
the armies of King Nebuchadnezzar. They had to
leave their home in Jerusalem and travel far
away to the country of Babylon. It was part of
God's plan that the people would not return for
about 70 years. God was with His people and
faithful to His promises. When the time was
right, even though they had to wait a long time,
they would be able to return. Daniel and his
friends were also waiting for the Savior to
come. God would have the people wait a long
time. But when the time was just right, God sent
Jesus to be born as our Savior. Now during this
time of Advent, we also wait. Just like Daniel
and his friends, we can trust the promises of
God. We know that Jesus who came at Christmas
will return for us when the time is just right.
During this time of waiting we are doing some special projects. We have contributed to the Sharing Tree and talked about giving presents to others. We have drawn pictures of the real meaning of Christmas, and we are also making presents to take home. Of course there has been a lot of time spent working on our songs to share with family and friends. We especially enjoyed singing for the residents of North Point. What an exciting time of the year. We wish you all a blessed and Merry Christmas. - Mrs. Brase
